Setup and custom builds

Built around how you work. Not the other way round.

Every trade business has the bit that does not fit the software. The job sheet your blokes actually fill in. The way you stage a claim. The supplier you buy from. Tell us what it is and we build it, on the platform you are already paying for.

Done-for-you setup

$499 one-off

On top of any plan

You do nothing. We port or forward your number, load your price book off your last ten invoices, build your job templates, set your hours and your after-hours rules, put your crew in, and run a live test call with you on the phone before you rely on it.

  • Your number forwarded or ported
  • Your real prices loaded, not a template
  • Job templates and checklists for your trade
  • A live test call before go-live

Custom build

Scoped to your budget

Quoted after one conversation

The parts of your business nobody else's software has. Your own job sheet, your own quote format, the way your progress claims are staged, a link into the wholesaler you actually buy from, a screen for the thing your trade does that no template covers.

  • Built on the platform you already pay for, not a separate system
  • You own the workflow, we maintain it
  • Scoped to the number you give us, never quoted over it
  • One conversation before anything is priced

The honest version

Most people asking for a custom build do not need one. The product already runs quotes, invoices, jobs, the calendar, the price book, materials, crew, timesheets, compliance and the phone. If what you want is in there, we will point at it and charge you nothing for the conversation.

Where it earns its money is the part of your business that is genuinely yours. These already exist because a tradie asked for them:

Tell us what you need

Six questions. It goes to the founder, who reads it and comes back with what it takes and what it costs.

We scope to your number. You will not get quoted over it.

Questions

What is the difference between setup and a custom build?

Setup is us doing the configuration you would otherwise do yourself: your number, your prices, your templates, your crew. The product does not change. A custom build changes the product — new screens, a workflow that does not exist yet, an integration into something you use. Setup is $499 and takes days. A custom build is scoped and quoted after a conversation.

Do I need a custom build?

Probably not, and we will tell you if you do not. Most trade businesses are covered by what is already there, and the honest answer is usually 'start on a plan, use it for a month, then tell us the one thing it will not do'. Paying for a build you did not need is how people end up resenting software.

What does a custom build cost?

It depends entirely on what it is, which is why the form asks what you have to spend before anyone quotes. We scope to the number you give and we do not come back above it. If what you want genuinely cannot be done inside your budget, we say so in one sentence and offer the nearest real thing.

Do I own what you build?

You own the workflow and your data, always. It runs on the BackOnTools platform, so it keeps working and keeps getting maintained as the rest of the product moves. You are not left holding a one-off that breaks the first time something upstream changes.

I am a trade you do not list. Can you still do it?

Yes, and that is a big part of why this page exists. The product ships with ten trades set up properly and a general profile for everything else. If yours is not one of the ten, tell us on the form and building yours out properly is exactly the kind of thing we do.

Not sure yet?

Start on a plan, use it for a month, then tell us the one thing it will not do. That is a better brief than anything you could write today, and it costs you nothing to find out.
