Most trade software was written for a bloke who turns up, fixes one thing and leaves. Brickwork is not that. It is a number of bricks, a square metre rate, a lineal metre of fence, a stage of a contract. It is a pallet count that has to be right on Monday because the crane is booked. It is a variation the builder asked for verbally on Tuesday and will not remember on Friday.
So the price book, the quote, the claim and the materials all speak brickwork here. You are not translating your job into somebody else's trade to make the software happy.
Per 1,000 laid, per m² of face, per lineal metre of fence, per opening cut in. The price book comes seeded with brickwork and blockwork lines instead of a blank list, and you edit them once to your own rates. The quote goes out from the ute while the customer is still standing in the driveway.
Brickwork gets claimed at stages, not at the end. Raise a claim against the contract sum, show what percentage of the wall is up, and send it without rebuilding the whole invoice. The variation for the extra piers or the opening the builder added on Tuesday is its own line, approved in writing, so it does not vanish at the final claim.

That is what the progress claims and variations are for. Claim against the contract sum at each stage, keep variations as their own approved lines, and send the claim as a document the builder's office will accept. Domestic jobs run the ordinary quote-to-invoice path in the same account.

NSW: a contractor licence for residential building or trade work valued over $5,000 in labour and materials including GST, through Building Commission NSW. Victoria: registered with the Building and Plumbing Commission to hold a contract worth more than $10,000, and domestic building insurance above $16,000. Queensland: bricklaying and blocklaying has its own QBCC trade contractor licence class. WA: builder registration from $20,000 of general building work.
